The innovator’s dilemma arises when companies are dominant and have a need to protect their market resulting in the shift from disruptive innovation to sustaining innovation.
In many instances, big companies simply add technologies haphazardly to their existing business model when true innovation is to reconstruct business model with technology, capitalizing on new and emerging opportunities and morphing business models with the help of technology to achieve a more sustainable competitive advantage.
