SUMMARY:Steven Millers Dialogue Session
DESCRIPTION:Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a powerful\, widely applicable\, and transformative technology\, already beginning to revolutionise industries and redefine human interactions. As we navigate this rapidly changing landscape\, it becomes essential to understand how we can co-exist harmoniously in this hybridised world of human and machine intelligence\, where AI and other dynamic forces are integral parts of our existence and driving new and constantly evolving possibilities and equilibria. \nTo help ground us in this new reality and navigate forward\, Steven Miller\, Professor Emeritus of Information Systems at the School of Computing and Information Systems\, Singapore Management University (SMU)\, will lead you through insight-generating interaction based on the following four basic yet essential questions: \n\nWhat do we even mean by intelligence\, human or machine?\nHow do we deal with the duality that Machine Intelligence is – and will continue to be – far superior to human intelligence in a growing number of ways\, yet far inferior in so many other ways?\nHow do we update our thinking of when and where we apply Machine Intelligence for Automation versus Augmentation?\nHow do we cope with the inevitable tensions resulting from the fact that AI technologies and capabilities are moving so quickly while the pace at which our own organisations change and adapt is so much slower?\n\nThis is the very last chance for you to be part of an in-person dialogue session with Steven\, before he departs Singapore and returns to the US. Steven has been a prominent and colourful figure in the Singapore IT community for the past 23 years. He is well-known across industry\, government and academia for his prior role as Founding Dean of SMU’s School of Computing and Information Systems\, as well as for his expertise in AI applications and impacts\, Human-Machine symbiosis and hybrid intelligence\, and organizational learning and capability building. \nBased on his recent book\, Working with AI: Real Stories of Human-Machine Collaboration (co-authored with Tom Davenport)\, and his many write ups of AI deployments and digital transformation efforts across industry and public sector in Singapore and beyond\, Steven will help us to understand how to navigate this new reality of hybridisation and co-existence. \nThis facilitated discussion will be a great opportunity to gain valuable perspectives and insights from Steven\, as well as from your fellow industry leaders.
