DESCRIPTION:North Vista Secondary school marked its 10th anniversary with a series of events to raise $10\,000 for a charitable cause which supports needy students. \n\n\n\n \nSchool marks 10th anniversary through giving \nNorth Vista Secondary school marked its 10th anniversary with a series of events to raise $10\,000 for a charitable cause which supports needy students. \nThe sum will be donated to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF)\, which gives financial aid to children from low-income families to help with their school-related expenses. North Vista\, formerly known as Thomson Secondary School before it relocated from Thomson Road to Sengkang in 2000\, started the project in January to celebrate 10 years at its new site. Its 1\,441 students raised the funds through projects such as running stalls at a carnival held after their annual road run in May\, and putting on a concert in July. \nThe school’s principal\, Mr. Lim Lai Chuan\, said he hoped that through projects such as these\, students would develop a sense of belonging to the community and become responsible citizens who would reach out to the needy. \nThe SPMF also received $12\, 000 from the IT Management Association (ITMA) on Tuesday (Sep 13\, 2011). The Association\, which has about 300 members comprising mostly Chief Information Officers and IT directors\, organized a charity movie screening in June and collected the money from members. \nAng Yiying\nSep 17\, 2011

Delegates also had the opportunity to hear from a list of distinguished speakers including Chen Shao Peng\, Senior Vice President\, Lenovo\, Goh Chye Boon\, CEO\, Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City and Philip Heah\, Senior Director\, Next Generation Infrastructure\, IDA. \nThis year’s Workshop drew an unprecedented number of attendees with 100 delegates at the Singapore leg and more than half of them traveled to Beijing to attend the second leg. \nThe 23rd Chief Information Officer Workshop\, jointly organized by Accenture and the Information Technology Management Association (ITMA)\, is an annual gathering of the most senior CIOs from large private and public organizations in the region. Considered the de facto CIO forum\, many participants return year after year to benefit from the rich content and valuable networking opportunities. \nOver its 23 year history\, the CIO Workshop has gathered IT leaders in Singapore and the region to exchange views on the opportunities and challenges that has shaped the industry. Recent workshops in Beijing\, Taiwan\, Japan\, Korea and Hong Kong have provided wonderful backdrops for productive dialogues on key issues impacting the business and IT landscape. \nThe CIO Workshop is supported by a Board of Advisors (BOA) comprising the ITMA president and other prominent IT leaders and CIOs from various industries and private or public organizations. This select group of individuals establishes the focus of the workshop\, pinpoints issues to address and targets visionaries and industry leaders to speak to these subjects.
