SUMMARY:5th ITMA CIO Study Trip (USA)
DESCRIPTION:The theme for this year’s study trip is “Innovations in the Brave New World”. We plan to visit companies in USA (Houston and Florida) and learn from their experiences in dealing with and taking advantages of the new technologies and social media. \n\n\n\nDear ITMA Members\, \nWe organized the inaugural CIO Study Trip to the Silicon Valley in 2006\, and the response was overwhelming. We visited technology giants such as eBay\, Symantec\, Oracle\, Accenture and CISCO. \nDuring our second study trip in 2007\, around 20+ ITMA members visited great global companies based in New York. The participants gained significant insights into the IT operations of companies such as IBM\, Colgate\, New York Stock Exchange\, Warner Music and JP Morgan. \nOur 3rd study trip was to Paris\, Frankfurt and Basel and we visited great companies head quartered in Europe. Last year we went to Copenhagen\, Oslo and Goteborg\, and visited companies such as Volvo\, Ministry of Taxation (Denmark)\, Norwegian Government\, etc. \nIn all of these trips\, the participants had very fruitful and interesting interactions with the CIOs of these global companies. One of the CIOs who took part in the trip hailed it as “one of the best learning experiences”. The post trip survey result shows that 100% of the participants were “very satisfied” with the trip. The opportunity to network with fellow CIOs and Senior IT Management during the trip was highlighted by the participants as one of key benefits of the trip. \nThe 5th ITMA CIO Study trip is now open for registration!\nFee: S$4\,000 \nThe theme for this year’s study trip is “Innovations in the Brave New World”. We plan to visit companies in USA (Houston and Florida) and learn from their experiences in dealing with and taking advantages of the new technologies and social media. This trip is promised to be as exciting\, educational and fun as the previous 4 trips. You will see first-hand how organizations tackle cyber security issues\, make use of social media to achieve organizational goals\, leverage on virtualization to save costs\, adopt business service management for cloud implementation\, etc. \nPlease contact Nancy at 8171-4456 if you have any questions. \nRegards\,\n5th CIO Study Trip Sub-committee\nITMA

SUMMARY:Professional Talk / Wine Appreciation
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for this wonderful evening of networking and learning. We will start our journey learning about the latest eCommerce developments and trends\, by Marcelo Wesseler\, followed by a fantastic Wine Appreciation evening with Alexander Meaney. \n\n\n\nPlease note change of timing. The event will start from 6.15pm instead of 5.30pm. Thanks and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. \nCome join us for this wonderful evening of networking and learning. We will start our journey learning about the latest eCommerce developments and trends\, by Marcelo Wesseler\, followed by a fantastic Wine Appreciation evening with Alexander Meaney. He will expose us to some of the best French wines. It will be a memorable evening. \nAgenda: \n6.15pm – “The evolution of eCommerce implementation over the last 15 years”\n6.45pm – Cocktails for all\, Networking\n7.15pm – “A Fine Wine Triumvirate” – wine appreciation plus finger food\n7.45pm – Ends \n“The evolution of eCommerce implementation over the last 15 years” \nOver the past 15 year\, eCommerce solutions have evolved dramatically. 10-15 years ago a standard eCommerce implementation required substantial financial commitments and ‘.com’ startups needed 10s of millions of dollars in funding before they could even start operating. Today\, many of the recent successes stories like Groupon started with much less than $1M in funding and they generated profits almost immediately. \n\nMarcelo joined RS Components Ltd. as Head of eCommerce in early 2010 and oversees the eCommerce business in Asia Pacific\, including key markets such as China\, Japan and Australia. \nMarcelo has more than 13 years of international experience in global eCommerce businesses and has previously worked with Hewlett-Packard and KPMG. \nMarcelo is an early eCommerce pioneer and established one of Europe’s first online-shopping platforms together with DHL in 1997. In 1999 he joined KPMG as Senior eCommerce Consultant where he led the strategy development and implementation of large eCommerce sites like sonystyle.com\, mini.com and the enterprise B2B site for Hewlett Packard. \n  \n“A Fine Wine Triumvirate” \n\nA chance to try a Saint-Julien (Bordeaux) from the amazing 2000 vintage\, one of the top 13 wines of Saint-Emilion (Bordeaux) AND one of the best Chateauneuf du Pape’s EVER produced! \nIf one were asked to name three wine regions of the world producing extremely high-quality\, world-class wines then a top-scoring ten out of ten answer could easily be Saint-Julien\, Saint-Emilion and Chateauneuf du Pape. The first two form (a small) part of the Bordeaux wine region\, of course\, and the third is a town at the Southern end of the Rhone Valley where one finds spicy\, bold and buxom wines – arguably more interesting than a lot of what comes out of Bordeaux and without doubt better value. Red Chateauneuf du Pape can consist of a blend of anything up to 13 grape varieties (!)\, although in practice most are the product of four or five different grapes. \nSaint-Julien\, Bordeaux \n· Chateau Lagrange 2000\, Grand Cru Classé \n“Destined for excellence” said The Wine Doctor (Chris Kissack) in November 2003 \n“The most impressive Lagrange…..with medium to full body\, high tannin\, and impressive richness as well as length\, it will be at its finest between 2008-2025. A brilliant wine!” says Robert Parker in ‘Bordeaux’ 2003 \nSaint-Emilion\, Bordeaux \nChateau La Gaffèliere 2004\, Premier Grand Cru Classé \n“A very fine wine indeed…..known for its elegance….one of the top 13 wines of Saint-Emilion (only 13 Chateaux in Saint-Emilion are classified Premier Grand Cru Classé….Cheval Blanc just happens to be one of them too)”\, Alex Meaney\, Wines2U \n· “This fabulous offering is a real success for the vintage. Elegant\, pure and perfectly detailed as well as noble”\, Robert Parker\, The Wine Advocate – 92/100 \n· “Well concentrated\, velvet\, master-hand vinified. Its legendary fineness is superbly highlighted”\, 4-5 STARS\, Revue du Vin de France (June 2005) \n“Great potential while remaining very elegant”\, 4-5 STARS\, Revue du Vin de France (September 2006) \nChateauneuf du Pape\, Rhone Valley \nDomaine de La Solitude “Reserve Secrète” 2005 \nThis wine has featured in Robert Parker’s “Top 50 wines of the world”. \n“One of Chateauneuf du Pape appellation’s most profound wines…..outstanding……(Solitude is an important producer of top Chateauneuf du Papes). Deep\, full-bodied\, splendidly concentrated”\, 92 POINTS+\, Robert Parker\, 2008. \nThe Wine Spectator: 95 POINTS! (March 11 2009) \nGold Medal\, Decanter World Wine Awards 2008 \nCome and join us for a tasting of truly thrilling\, memorable wines with some fine finger food and eCommerce discussion! We will kick off with (what else?) a glass of Vintage Champagne. \nThis event is free for ITMA members and limited to 27 pax only\, awarded on first-come-first-served basis. Hurry\, mark your date and register your interest with your name\, organisation\, NRIC\, contact number and email to Ms Cheryl Loo at e.organisers@itma.org.sg by 12 August 2011. \nThis event has been kindly sponsored by: \n \nKnowledge Management Solutions (KMS) provides consulting and implementation services for developing decision support and knowledge management systems. SUMMARY:Pre-CIO Summit Dinner
DESCRIPTION:I would like to take this opportunity to personally invite you to join IDC\, IBM and ITMA to the pre-CIO Summit dinner at the Swissotel The Stamford\, Level 69\, Equinox Complex – Private Function Room on the 27th July from 6.30pm to 9.00pm. \n\n\n\nDear ITMA Member\, \nI would like to take this opportunity to personally invite you to join IDC\, IBM and ITMA to the pre-CIO Summit dinner at the Swissotel The Stamford\, Level 69\, Equinox Complex – Private Function Room on the 27th July from 6.30pm to 9.00pm. \nTo say that the CIO’s role is changing is as clichéd and obvious as saying water is wet. Faced with a rapidly shifting technology landscape\, heightened expectations from internal constituents\, and unprecedented pressures from customers and corporate boards of directors\, the role of the CIO must evolve to keep pace with these forces and their expectations. The path to professional success for the CIO is not always clear\, rarely static in nature and is almost never universal. \nBut even in this ever changing environment\, certain consistencies have emerged; in a recent study of over 3\,000 CIOs from around the world\, four distinct directives – or mandates – of successful CIOs have begun to surface. \nJoin IDC\, IBM and ITMA for an exclusive\, by invitation only\, evening of discussion\, debate\, and dinner\, to hear answers to the questions below and more. \nWhat are these new CIO mandates?\nWhat are technological and business drivers behind the success of CIOs in these four categories?\nAs a CIO\, how do you best leverage this knowledge and apply it to both your career and the continued success of your company?\nFor further details on the agenda and speakers for this dinner visit the event website. \nSeats are limited so please register or contact Caroline Ocego at IDC for further details. She can be contacted on +65 6829 7513 or cocego@idc.com. \nBest regards\, \nGiuseppe Bruni\nAsean Strategy and\nTransformation Leader\,\nGlobal Business Services\nIBM Asean \nMr Eugene Chang\nPresident\,\nIT Management Association\n(Singapore) \nCort Isernhagen\nVice President\,\nIDC’s Industry Insights – International\nIDC Asia/Pacific \n  \n  \nBy attending the dinner\, you are also eligible to attend the IDC Asia Pacific CIO Summit 2011 on the 28 – 29 July at the Shangri-La Hotel. \nIDC Asia/Pacific CIO Summit is recognized as an IT leader focused annual event where CIO\, CTO\, business and IT executives. This year\, the Summit will focus on four core areas pertinent for CIOs; driving down costs\, lifting productivity\, engaging customers and bringing products and services to the market. Also under examination will be areas such as does IT bring Innovation to the business\, how can we measure the effectiveness of innovation and what matters more to CIOs – the expenses\, the profit or the customers.

North Vista\, formerly known as Thomson Secondary School before it relocated from Thomson Road to Sengkang in 2000\, started the project in January to celebrate 10 years at its new site. Its 1\,441 students raised the funds through projects such as running stalls at a carnival held after their annual road run in May\, and putting on a concert in July. \nThe school’s principal\, Mr. Lim Lai Chuan\, said he hoped that through projects such as these\, students would develop a sense of belonging to the community and become responsible citizens who would reach out to the needy. \nThe SPMF also received $12\, 000 from the IT Management Association (ITMA) on Tuesday (Sep 13\, 2011). The Association\, which has about 300 members comprising mostly Chief Information Officers and IT directors\, organized a charity movie screening in June and collected the money from members. \nAng Yiying\nSep 17\, 2011
