At this lunch\, we will share with you 2012 Gartner’s IT Key Metrics Survey and 2011 Singapore IT benchmark report. \n\n\n\n \n“Empowering You For Budget Justification”\nGreetings\, \nAs CIOs or Senior IT Executives\, when you have annual discussion with your CEO and CFO on IT budget\, are you being asked the following questions? \n•    How is our IT budget compared with our competitors in our industry?\n•    IT budget as a % of our revenue\, are we spending too much on IT?\n•    IT budget as a % of our operating expenses\, are we OK?\n•    Do we have a right mix in our IT budget – People\, HW\, SW\, management etc \nWe are hosting a lunch on the 6th of August 2012 (Monday) @ 12pm – 2pm\, at Novus Restaurant @ National Museum. At this lunch\, we will share with you 2012 Gartner’s IT Key Metrics Survey and 2011 Singapore IT benchmark report. This is a fully sponsored survey in collaboration between ITMA and Gartner Executive Programs\, worth thousands of dollars if done independently. There is a limit of 35 participants for this lunch\, and thus it is on a first come\, first serve basis. \nMain objective of this project is – To empower CIOs to better justify your 2013 IT budget. Participating in the project will provide you a structured way to collect and review your budget data. \nWith your participation\, you will receive a personalized company IT Budget benchmark (Executive Assessment) report. Sample of the Executive Assessment report and Singapore Country report are attached for your information. The Executive Assessment report will cover the following comparison: \n•    IT Spending as a % of Total Revenues\n•    IT Spending as a % of Operating Expenses\n•    IT Spending per Company Employee\n•    T Employees as a % of Company Employees\n•    In House vs. Contract IT Employees\n•    Capital vs. Operational IT Spending\n•    IT Spend Distribution (HW\, SW\, Personnel\, Outsourcing\, Other)\n•    IT Spend Distribution (Run\, Grow\, Transform)\n•    Spending and Staffing\n•    IT Security Metrics Comparison\n•    IT Outsourcing Metrics Comparison\n•    IT Applications Metrics Comparison \nIn previous years\, many CIOs have found this survey and Executive Assessment report to be very useful tools. In 2010 the IT leader for a multi-billion (US) dollar multinational insurance company told us\, “Thank you very much; for us it is very important to participate in this assessment.”; and another CIO commented “I found the resulting report to be very valuable when comparing my company to the industry”. \nYou are invited to participate by completing the IT Key Metric Data Survey spreadsheet (see attached). Deadline for completion is September 2nd\, 2012. \nWe will send you a copy of your personalized Company IT Budget benchmark (Executive Assessment) report and a Singapore country benchmark report in Nov 2012. Please submit your completed survey spreadsheet to Mr. Wong Yuet Nan\, Executive Partner at Gartner. Please also direct any questions to him – yuetnan.wong@gartner.com. \nWe look forward to your participation. \nSincerely\, \nSteve Lee\, Vice President of ITMA \nKho Sheau Ling\, Gartner Singapore Country Manager

SUMMARY:ITMA Private Dinner Event "How Can Lean Management Possibly Help Me To Re-engineer Business Processes?"
DESCRIPTION:Dear ITMA Members \nJoin us at the Buyan Russian Cuisine Restaurant on the 31st July 2012 at 7.00pm to hear Robert Oh on topic “How Can Lean Management Possibly Help Me To Re-engineer Business Processes” \nAddress: 9/10 Duxton Hill\, Singapore 089593 \nITMA is proud to organize a series of professional talks covering these four topics over the next few months: \n1.     Continuous Improvement\n2.     Change management\n3.     Governance and Business Continuity\n4.     IT Service Management\nWe have asked our members most of whom were practicing IT leaders for different organization\, now running their own companies\, to share their areas of expertise with the boarder membership base. \nOur first guest speaker is Robert\, Robert is the founder and principal of Eagles Wings – a lean six sigma consulting and training firm based in Singapore. He is a seasoned leader in the areas of operations\, product development and project management with more than 20 years of IT experience. Prior to Eagles Wings\, Robert worked in Invensys as their Vice President for Service and Support\, as well as Baan before Invensys as their Vice President for Operations. \nRobert would like to give a copy of his book “Strategic Lean Service – A case study of how a global IT service delivery organization used Lean to drive organizational transformation and achieve customer satisfaction” to all our participants (while stocks last\, that is) who register for this session. \nThe registration for this event is closed. \nHow Can Lean Management Possibly Help Me To Re-engineer Business Processes? \nWhile many people have heard of the term Lean Management not everyone understands what it is and how it can help IT to re-engineer business processes. \nTraditional business process re-engineering (BPR) methods focus on root cause analysis and process mapping tools but do not help us build the improved process. This is not so helpful because we are left to develop the improved business process by ourselves with little guidance. \nThis 2 hour session will introduce you to methods and tools of Lean Management for mapping and capturing the issues in the current business process (like end to end turn-around time problems\, the bottleneck points\, quality issues that slow the process\, the size of the backlog at various points along the process etc) but more importantly also offers clear step by step guidance on how to re-engineer and radically improve the business process. The context of the session will be IT focused. \nLearning will be through case study discussions and activities during the workshop. \nITMA Event Organiser

SUMMARY:5th ITMA CIO Study Trip (USA)
DESCRIPTION:The theme for this year’s study trip is “Innovations in the Brave New World”. We plan to visit companies in USA (Houston and Florida) and learn from their experiences in dealing with and taking advantages of the new technologies and social media. \n\n\n\nDear ITMA Members\, \nWe organized the inaugural CIO Study Trip to the Silicon Valley in 2006\, and the response was overwhelming. We visited technology giants such as eBay\, Symantec\, Oracle\, Accenture and CISCO. \nDuring our second study trip in 2007\, around 20+ ITMA members visited great global companies based in New York. The participants gained significant insights into the IT operations of companies such as IBM\, Colgate\, New York Stock Exchange\, Warner Music and JP Morgan. \nOur 3rd study trip was to Paris\, Frankfurt and Basel and we visited great companies head quartered in Europe. Last year we went to Copenhagen\, Oslo and Goteborg\, and visited companies such as Volvo\, Ministry of Taxation (Denmark)\, Norwegian Government\, etc. \nIn all of these trips\, the participants had very fruitful and interesting interactions with the CIOs of these global companies. One of the CIOs who took part in the trip hailed it as “one of the best learning experiences”. The post trip survey result shows that 100% of the participants were “very satisfied” with the trip. The opportunity to network with fellow CIOs and Senior IT Management during the trip was highlighted by the participants as one of key benefits of the trip. \nThe 5th ITMA CIO Study trip is now open for registration!\nFee: S$4\,000 \nThe theme for this year’s study trip is “Innovations in the Brave New World”. We plan to visit companies in USA (Houston and Florida) and learn from their experiences in dealing with and taking advantages of the new technologies and social media. This trip is promised to be as exciting\, educational and fun as the previous 4 trips. You will see first-hand how organizations tackle cyber security issues\, make use of social media to achieve organizational goals\, leverage on virtualization to save costs\, adopt business service management for cloud implementation\, etc. \nPlease contact Nancy at 8171-4456 if you have any questions. \nRegards\,\n5th CIO Study Trip Sub-committee\nITMA
