SUMMARY:ITMA Webinar with Dr Tan Kee Wee: Globalisation After Covid-19
DESCRIPTION:Dear ITMA Members\, \nThis coronavirus has destroyed and created many industries. It has also changed the way we work and play. \n\n\n\nThis online lecture will focus on how globalisation will develop from here. One of the things it has done is to encourage people to use e-payment systems. \nCurrently\, we depend on our credit cards and bank accounts for e-payments. And this in turn depends on our traditional banking systems. But there is a parallel banking system being developed that will soon replace the traditional banking system. \nThis transformation could be very sudden\, just as the appearance of the coronavirus was sudden. Attend this talk and find out how the global economies will be affected when this transformation occurs. \nOur distinguish guest – Dr Tan Kee Wee \nTan Kee Wee runs an economics advisory firm. Prior to that\, Dr Tan spent many years in the investment industry as an economist\, forecasting the financial markets and global economies. \nDr Tan started off his career in 1988 as a journalist with the Business Times. That was after he secured his PhD in Economics from the University of East Anglia in Britain. \nDespite spending most of his career in the business world\, he continues to teach undergraduates economics on a part-time basis.

SUMMARY:Remote Work Security Executive Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:Our daily work schedules may have been disrupted in recent times but cybercrimes do not stop. According to FireEye device detections\, coronavirus-themed malicious emails increased during the month of March 2020. Specifically\, FireEye has observed more than four times as many phishing emails in the second half of March than we did in the first half. \n\n\n\nEnsuring data integrity and security as well as operational security during these times of disruption or increased remote work is critical. Remote workers should be advised on how to best secure their workplaces\, remote work security policies\, and access controls should be reviewed and clearly communicated. Special attention should also be paid to the possibility of insider threats. \nSafety is of the utmost importance. Not just for ourselves but for our business organizations too.

SUMMARY:Exclusive Industry Briefing and CNY Prosperity Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Dear ITMA Members \nAs a technology leader within your organization how can you help your organization gain value from its growing data? What makes a future-proof yet pragmatic approach to adapt to the evolving changes? \n\n\n\nDigital transformation (DX) is at the top of the strategic objectives list for most organizations. However\, one key aspect of DX that is often overlooked and causes problems if not adequately prepared for\, is the issue of data management. Before you can reap the benefits of your data – which is the core of DX – you need to have control over it first. \nMost enterprise data is scattered across multiple locations on-premise and in various clouds (public\, private\, hybrid). It is trapped in infrastructure silos or buried in long-forgotten storage systems\, or back-up devices. This fragmentation of data makes it difficult and time-consuming for IT to control or access\, and hinders data exploitation for the business\, let alone support new workloads and functionalities. \nGiven such fast evolving demands\, technologies that were deployed to drive efficiencies and automations often become obsolete and result in the need for new tools and systems to satisfy new requirements to support DX. \nAs a thought leader in our Industry\, we invite you to a discussion on the challenges of Mass Data Fragmentation and how to future proof and radically redefine Data Management \nEvent Details \n6.00 PM – 6.30 PM\nRegistration and Networking \n6:30 PM – 6:40 PM\nWelcome from ITMA and Cohesity \n6:40 PM – 7:00 PM\nSolving Mass Data Fragmentation To Enable Digital Transformation\nMarcus Low\, CTO Asia Pacific & Japan\, Cohesity \n7:00 PM – 7:30 PM\nLohei and Dinner Commence \n7:30 PM – 8:00 PM\nRedefining Data Management – An End User Conversation\nSathish Murthy\, Director Technology Services Cohesity with Richard Lee\, Director IT Infrastructure & Services\, SISTIC \n8.00 PM Onwards\nCocktails and Networking

SUMMARY:Cybersecurity And Data Breaches - Can you face the music?
DESCRIPTION:In 2018\, the Personal Data Protection Commission Singapore looked into almost 30 complaints of potential data breaches and issued enforcement decision in the majority of the cases. In May of the same year\, the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) also came into force\, putting in place accountability and penalties on organisations around the globe which process data of EU residents. \nIn the face of more sophisticated cyber attacks\, organisations are beefing up cyber secruity defences and response. However\, are these sufficient to be in compliance with regulations in the unlikely event of a breach? \nCome join us as Gilbert Leong\, senior partner in Dentons Rodyk’s Intellectual Property & Technology practice group discusses data breaches from a legal compliance and cyber security liabilities perspective. \nOn behalf of our sponsor\, Vivek Chudgar – Senior Director at FireEye for Mandiant Consulting in Asia Pacific\, will also give a short talk titled “The difference between compliance and security” thereafter.
